Industry affiliate members will learn about the latest developments in the learning sciences and technologies and be able to track the development of next generation systems, evaluating the commercial potential of learning and language technologies, as well as meeting and hiring future researchers, developers and managers. Industry affiliate members will also be able to attend an annual meeting in which they are briefed on Center activities and have the opportunity to meet the researchers and attend a poster session where they will meet and recruit graduate students and post-docs, and meeting with the executive committee to brainstorm on the future. They will also have the ability to have a researcher in residence for a fee or sponsor graduate student(s) working on member-specified projects.
We encourage you to join us in this mission and take advantage of the many levels of support offered by the PSLC: a community of learning researchers available for collaboration, a diverse Executive Committee committed to providing valuable feedback at all stages of the development and implementation of research projects, and the use of the LearnLab courses and LearnLab technologies for the purpose of conducting course-based experiments.

Our goal is expand and deepen industry involvement in the center as a means to enhancing our members’ interactions and increase the value of the membership in the PSLC affiliates program. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is personnel exchanges and joint research activities, both of which foster one-on-one interaction. Successful collaboration must benefit both the collaborating individuals and the cooperating organizations. Mechanisms available to our members for these collaborations include:
- Graduate student internships at company sites
- Graduate student mentoring by industry
- Industry participation on thesis committees
- Faculty sabbaticals
- Extended visits by industrial researchers
- Technical review meetings (review and topical)
- Industrial Advisory Board meetings
- Visits (of varying lengths) by industry to the center and by the center to industry
- Collaborative research projects
- Contract research projects
- Consortium meetings
- IP licensing
- Hosting center tours for members and their clients/prospects
- Tours of member facilities by visiting colleagues
